Machine Learning Projects to Assist Refugees: GeoMatch & SWOT
29 November 2021 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm EST
This joint CRS/RLL seminar will explore ways that machine learning technologies can be used in partnership with university-based researchers in projects that aim to assist refugees. We will explore two such projects: GeoMatch, a project based a the Immigration Policy Lab that leverages machine learning to help connect refugees in need of resettlement with communities where resettled refugees are likely to thrive, and the Safe Water Optimization Tool, a project based at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research that uses machine learning to improve water quality in refugee camps.
Speakers:
Kirk Bansak, GeoMatch
Michael De Santi, York University
